Can you believe we’ve come to end of another reading year already! Mine was filled with highs and a few unexpected lows. I got to travel to Washington for Apollycon and to Rome for the RARE book signing. They were equally daunting but amazing experiences, and I got to finally meet my most treasured book friends, as well as reconnect with my favourite usual suspects.

I’ve been a more adventurous reader this year too; delving into Paranormal, Fantasy and hold on to your hats… Audiobooks. Lol! I know what your thinking, “Slow down, Eliza”, but hey, it’s a huge development for me as far as I’m concerned 😉

I’m hoping to up my Goodreads game in 2019, I’ve been pretty poor with keeping up to date so I’ll probably set that as a New Year’s resolution for myself. *Le Sigh*

But back to the matter at hand! Without further ado here are my fave reads of 2018! Do we have any favourites in common? Be sure to let me know in the comments! ❤

THE KISS QUOTIENT by Helen Hoang: I loved every moment of reading The Kiss Quotient. It possessed all the trappings and heart fluttering feels that I adore in romance. Paired with humour and a wonderful supporting cast, it takes pride of place on my list of favourite reads this year. If you’ve yet to read it yet, you are in for a treat.

JOSH AND HAZEL’S GUIDE TO NOT DATING by Christina Lauren: Although I stand guilty of sounding like a broken record, I say with conviction, this is my favourite Christina Lauren read to dateJosh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating is a insanely addictive, belly-clutching laugh-out-loud romance that is a major coup of a read for all friends to lovers, opposites attract aficionados.

THE ACCIDENTALS by Sarina Bowen: The Accidentals is the emotionally poignant story of seventeen year old Rachel Kress, and the upheaval of her life after her mother’s tragic passing. The testament to my instant investment in this story is the result of Sarina’s flawless writing. With perfect pacing and development, The Accidentals is an emotionally sophisticated Young Adult debut from an author I’ve long been in adoration of.

NEXT YEAR IN HAVANA by Chanel Cleeton: NEXT YEAR IN HAVANA is a triumph and testament to Chanel Cleeton’s outstanding abilities as a writer. So beautifully written the novel is steeped in the history and vibrancy of Cuba. Much like an artist Cleeton paints a glorious picture which is enriched by her style and imagery. The heaviness of politics is balanced by the delicate relationships between family, and the hope that blooms with tentativeness of romantic ones.

AS DUST DANCES by Samantha Young: Skylar & Killian’s relationship is one that defines romance for me. It’s confronting the ugliness we sometimes see in ourselves and having someone love us in spite of it. It’s the rawness of our pain and having someone who makes it their mission to sooth it. I adored their chemistry and intensity but even more so the growth they made as individuals and as a couple. Young did not just write a novel, she composed a compelling love song that captured me from its first note to its last.

FALL by Kristen Callihan: What presented itself as a rock n roll romance blossomed into a novel with unassuming depth and a world of emotion. I was touched by not only the struggles of both Jax and Stella, but by the author’s ability to draw on my own self-reflection and self-care.

MOI copy

MARRIAGE OF INCONVENIENCE by Penny Reid: The blurb promises what Penny delivers, which is a most conveniently amazing read. At this point I should be used to how engaging her characters are, but I love that there is always something to take away from them that relates to some aspect of everyday life. The romance in particular was a delight to read and I may have clasped my hands together in a Disney like swoon a time or two.

Deep control kindle cover

DEEP CONTROL by Annabel Joseph: This is one for my fellow BDSM lovers. Not only is Deep Control my favourite book in the Dark Dominance series, it’s my favourite overall from Annabel Joseph. It’s an intensely passionate read dominated by brilliant writing and well a read story. I revelled in its authenticity and wonderful balance of sex and emotion.

MY OXFORD YEAR by Julia Whelan: My Year in Oxford is the wonderful debut from Julia Whelan. The love story stole the show but it has a wonderful supporting cast in the backdrop of Oxford along with the hilarious and lovable cast. What begins as a deceptively heart-warming tale and exploration of a new city becomes heartfelt story with depth and unfettered emotion.

CRACKS DUET by L.H. Cosway: There’s much beauty and pain in this story, as well as a message of hope. So fantastically written L.H. Cosway creates a world where the cracks add to rather than diminish from it’s beauty.
