It never gets any easier when it comes to whittling down my favourite reads of the year. The great thing is I got to pour over the feels again! Like last year I’ll more than likely be adding to it once I hit publish, LOL! Be sure to leave a comment to let me know which books were your favourites of the year too! ❤️
Goodbye Paradise by Sarina Bowen: As a romance reader, Goodbye Paradise is exactly the type of novel I live for. From its opening page to its last, I was immersed in a storyline which captured my attention, and characters that had my love and adoration. I always enjoy a Sarina Bowen novel, but I have to say, I was blown away by this one.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman: Gail Honeyman’s story telling and characterisation are at the very least sublime. Her ability to convey Eleanor and her experiences were at times simply breath taking. She quite literally brings to life the character of Eleanor Oliphant and I’m filled with absolute elation to have been lucky enough to have met her.

Illegal Contact by Santino Hassell: Illegal Contact is the first standalone novel in the sports romance Barons series, and the first step to what I’m sure will be an unhealthy addiction to the author Santino Hassell. Seriously, where have you been all my life? There was none of the getting to know you process that happens with a “new to me author.” From the first page the writing was familiar, fun and engaging yet still managed to be fresh and exciting.

Royally Endowed by Emma Chase: Royally Endowed is the third edition to series which you’d think would get harder for the author to top. Instead we get more laughs, bigger swoons and a wealth of smouldering steam. In short, Emma Chase writes an utterly delightful romantic comedy that I could not put down for love nor money.

Juniper Unravelling by Keri Lake: Writers like Keri Lake are very important to a reader such as myself. She takes me out of my comfort zone and pushes my boundaries in terms of new experiences. She’s imaginative and fearless and that is reflected in writing and body of work. My wits may be frayed but her status as one of my favourite authors is here to stay.

How to Date a Douchebag: The Learning Hours by Sara Ney: Be still my Douche-loving heart! I’m just over here waving my pom-poms for the team Douchebag cheer squad.

Most of All You by Mia Sheridan: Most of All You is the much welcomed novel from one of my favourite authors. By comparison to Mia’s previous novels, its closest is style and sentiment to one of my most cherished, Archer’s Voice. It features two stunning main characters I found impossible to feel anything but compassion and adoration for.

GHOSTED by J.M Darhower: Ghosted is a triumph. Darhower does not skimp on the rawness of heartbreak nor the fragility that comes with renewed hope. There is a subduedness to this fierce romance and its slow burn that built momentum with every page read. It’s a story of redemption, growth and forgiveness not to mention the comedic element that came with Maddie’s character. I adored her and I love Darhower’s style of writing parent romances.

Beard in Mind by Penny Reid: I’m in awe of Penny’s ability to write a swoon worthy romance whilst concurrently tackling serious current issues. Beard in Mind is a conscientious and thought provoking romance which was nicely balanced by its comedic value and heart fluttering feels.

Wild Card by Karina Halle: Wild Card is the first standalone novel in the North Ridge Trilogy, and suffice to say Karina Halle surprised the hell out of me with this one. I was not expecting or prepared for the level of intensity I experienced, nor the angst that clung to the pages of this novel.

The Hot Shot by Kristen Callihan: The Hot Shot was such a deliciously-sweet read; I may need to have my blood sugars checked. Speaking of over indulgence, let’s look at some of the tropes we have here: Opposites attract. Enemies to friends. Friends to lovers. Cue the Melanie Griffin in When Harry Met Sally: “Yes, yes yes!” It’s a case of “I’ll have what she’s having” and then some.

Autoboyography by Christina Lauren: I can’t tell you the range of emotions I went through reading this novel. It was brilliantly awkward at times to the point of laughing out loud, but there was also the angst that felt heightened due its star crossed nature. It’s a coming of age story that focuses on self-acceptance and tolerance, but most importantly it’s a sweet story of first love.

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne: It’s a novel that topped many favourite lists of my blogger friends in 2016. I being late to the party finally got the time to read it and what a wonder read it was! Rather than beat myself up about it my penance will be to enthusiastically recommend to all.
