BAD AT LOVE by Karina Halle
Release Date: November 16th

She’s bad at love, but he’s even worse…

Marina is hot, blonde, and wickedly smart, but when it comes to men? She’s hopeless. Between her quirks and her lack of filter, there isn’t a man in Los Angeles that will stick around after the third date.

Her handsome, charming friend Lazarus has the opposite problem. Everyone wants to be his girlfriend, but he gets bored and moves on quickly.

There’s only one way to figure out why neither of them has cracked this love thing– they’ll date each other. On paper, it’s the perfect experiment. But in reality, things between Marina and Laz get complicated quickly.

They might be bad at love, but they are even worse at being friends.

The place is called Tanner Smiths and is one of those trendy bars with a prohibition theme. It’s packed and dark and there’s a small dancefloor by the door so that when you walk in, you’re sucked into a group of people grooving all up in your space. Beyonce blares from the female DJ in the corner and everyone is drunk and happy.

“I approve of the vibe,” I say to Laz.

“What?” he yells back mockingly over the noise, cupping his ear. Then he leans in, close. Very close. “What you havin’ to drink, sweet girl?”

His breath is hot on my ear and I momentarily close my eyes, letting the feeling sink along my skin, down my back, all the way to my toes. “Anything,” I manage to say.

I open my eyes and his face is still at my neck, lips at my ear. “I had no idea you were so easy to please,” he murmurs and I swear his lips are grazing my skin. Goosebumps spread and I’m hot and cold all at once.

My throat feels thick as I speak. “Only when it comes to drinks. Anything else, you might have to work at it.”

“Is that so?” he says, pulling back enough to look me in the eye.

There’s fire inside him. God, how I want to burn.

“We’ll have to see, won’t we?” I tell him.

His languid gaze drops to my lips, his nostrils flaring with impatience.

Fuck, do it, just fucking kiss me.

Kiss me.

Kiss me.

He leans all the way back, gives my hand another squeeze before letting go. “Don’t you dare go anywhere.”

“Bossy,” I comment, my stomach summersaulting like crazy.

“You have no idea,” he says. Then he winks, a bit of a smile, and heads down to the bar to place the order.

I watch him. I watch him and I watch the girls in the bar watching him and I know tonight, tonight he’s mine. I have him.

I’ve never felt so alive before, a swarm of electricity underneath my skin, my heart happy, happy, happy with anticipation, knowing what might finally happen between us.

★4 STARS★

I have to say, I’m really enjoying my Karina Halle revival this year. I adore her WILD RIDGE series and I had so much fun reading her contemporary standalone, AFTER ALL.

BAD AT LOVE is a friends to lovers romance which to me embodies what I love most about the trope. The tentativeness and hesitation of taking friendship to the next level vs the blistering chemistry and emotion that lies just beneath the surface.

Marina and Laz are long time, firm friends who are basically pretty Bad at Love. Marina is a wonderful character who is free with her feelings, thoughts and emotions. She’s an open book, but for the life of her, she can’t find someone to hang around long enough to hear her story. On the other hand you have Laz. He’s an enigma of sorts with his broody artistic ways. When it comes to love he’s happy to be in a relationship but he can’t seem to find someone who can read him the way Marina can.

In an effort to help identify where the other is going wrong, they agree to “date.” It has the makings of a recipe for disaster, but when they get a taste of what life could be like, there’s no going back.

In terms of a cute and sweet read, BAD AT LOVE is the bee’s knees.

★COVER REVEAL★ THE SOUNDS OF SECRETS BY WHITNEY BARBETTI

THE SOUNDS OF SECRETS by Whitney Barbetti
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: December 6, 2017

I’ve been in love with him forever. But to him, I’ve always been off-limits. Until the night that changed everything.

Maybe it was the alcohol. Maybe it was the secrets we shared. Maybe he finally opened his eyes and saw me.

By the time the sun rose, I’d lost him again, my heart shattering on his parting words: “It was a mistake.” So I ran. Ran until I was thousands of miles away, in a country I didn’t know, surrounded by people who only made me miss him more.

I never expected him to follow me … or to pry more secrets from my soul. In exchange, he gave me more of his secrets too.

How was I to know it was the secrets we didn’t share, the words we didn’t dare utter, that would tear us apart?

Author Bio

I am a wife to one and a mom to two humans and one cat. I have a deep and abiding love for nachos – especially the kind with the liquid cheese, like from Taco Bell (sorry). I run on less than four hours of sleep thanks to copious amounts of Diet Coke. (Note: this paragraph is not sponsored by anyone except my hungry stomach.)
As a Navy brat, I grew up all over the country, from California and up the east coast from Florida to New England and Colorado. I currently live in Idaho, where we have lots of potatoes and windmills.
I write character-driven contemporary romance novels, heavy on the emotional connection. I LOVE love. I love writing about broken characters who find their soul mates.

★NEW RELEASE & EXCERPT★ CONSTANT BY RACHEL HIGGINSON

CONSTANT: A Confidence Men Novel by Rachel Higginson

Release Date: 16th November 2017

Buy Links: AMAZON US | AMAZON UK

Fifteen years ago I met Sayer Wesley. I fell in love with him. I promised I would never leave him. I swore nothing could break us apart.

Five years ago I broke my promise. I ran away. I took the one secret that could destroy us both and disappeared.

Five days ago I thought I saw him.

I knew it was impossible. Sayer was locked away, serving a deserved sentence in federal prison. He couldn’t find me.

He wouldn’t find me. I was too good at hiding. Too good at surviving.

Because if Sayer ever found me, there would be hell to pay for a plethora of sins. The worst of which, he didn’t even know about.

Five hours ago, I told myself I was crazy.

Five minutes ago, I saw him again.

Five seconds ago, I was too late.

There were times in my life that I thought I wouldn’t survive. I stood at the precipice of death and peered over the edge. One misstep or ill-timed gust of wind and I would have tipped over, fallen down the black abyss and never resurfaced.

Sometimes when I looked back at those moments, those infinitely dark and twisted times, I couldn’t breathe. I would feel my heart shatter all over. I would experience the tearing, crushing, ripping apart of my limbs and muscles, my tendons and veins, my heart and my mind. I would forget how to breathe.

I would forget how to be.

Until I remembered him.

He was the one constant in my life that had pushed me through the darkness. He was the one constant in my life that loved me beyond everything else, beyond what I was or had been or could ever be. He wanted me to be better. He wanted to be better for me.

And yet he was as tangled in the madness as I was.

I didn’t have that life anymore. I had broken free and found something safe to build a foundation on. But I couldn’t remember the past without imagining his smile or his eyes, his touch. I couldn’t think about where I had been without thinking of where we were supposed to go.

Where he was supposed to take me.

Sometimes life doesn’t work out the way you plan. Sometimes circumstances change and sometimes they’re for the better.

But he was my constant then and he is the constant ghost that haunts me now.

I might not be with him.

But he will always be with me.

THE FORTUNATE ONES by R.S. Grey

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Release Date: 1st November 2017

At Twin Oaks Country Club, there are the fortunate ones, and then there are the rest of us: the waiters, the caddies, the valets, and in my case, the cabana girls. Most days, I’m poolside in a pleated skirt, dishing out margaritas to tycoons and titans. It’s not exactly my dream job, but it does come with one perk…

James Ashwood.

He’s my silver lining in a custom black suit.

Besides being a legacy member at the club, he’s a tech mogul and Austin’s most eligible bachelor. Oh, and those dimples? Yeah, they make my stomach dip too.

On good days, I catch his sleek Porsche winding down the tree-lined drive. On better days, I steal a glimpse of his handsome profile as we pass in the hall. And on the absolute best day, I find him alone at the bar, looking for company.

“Come have a seat.”

Those four little words set me down a path I never could have imagined. Private planes, penthouse suites, and temptations around every corner make it impossible to keep my distance. His world feels decadent and wild—but overindulgence comes with a cost. Every kiss comes with strings. Every erotic encounter is a promise I’m not ready to keep.

When I pump the brakes, he hits the gas. James doesn’t want to go slow—he wants a commitment.

And the thing about the fortunate ones?

They’re used to getting what they want.

“I missed you today,” he says, his heated gaze lingering on my body.

I step back, and he follows.

He looks like he’s cornering his prey.

“Apparently not enough to make it to dinner,” I point out icily.

“I called the restaurant and told them I’d be late. Didn’t they tell you?”

I cross my arms and glance away.

“Brooke.” He steps closer and gently lifts my chin, forcing me to look back at him. “Fight with me tomorrow.”

I narrow my eyes, angry with him for shelving this discussion so casually. To him, it doesn’t matter that I sat in that restaurant alone, looking like a fool for nearly two hours. He’s brushing off my anger, stepping closer and forcing his way past my defenses.

“I think I’d like to talk about it now.”

I catch the beginning of a smirk just before he leans in to kiss my cheek.

“Are you sure there isn’t anything you’d rather be doing right now?”

He uncrosses my arms and brings them up over his shoulders then steps closer, towering over me. My arms tighten around his neck, but still, I turn away, keeping my mouth from him. His breath hits my neck and he pulls me taut against his hard body, growing more impatient with every moment I try to resist.

“Brooke,” he whispers huskily.

My eyes flutter closed as he bends and presses a kiss to my cheek, my chin, then lower, tipping my head back so he can reach the smooth recess at the nape of my neck. I shiver and he groans, obviously aware of what his touch is doing to me.

 ★4.5 STARS★

The Fortunate Ones are the affluent who look to Twin Oaks Country Club as their personal playground. They flaunt their wealth and excess, and in a world where money reigns supreme, it’s Brooke Davenport’s job as cabana girl to meet all requests with a smile. Pampering over inflated egos is tough work when you’re as snarky as she is, but the upside is it pays the bills as she searches for her perfect position as an Au Pair.

The glimmer of joy she gets from her role comes in the form of devastatingly handsome, James Ashwood. His attendance is well documented and leaves many a flustered female in his wake. Although having never met him, his presence alone is a guilty pleasure Brooke is (secretly) unashamedly happy to revel in. Until now she’s contentedly lusted from afar, but being suckered into a dinner shift puts a change to all of that.

What should have been a power imbalance instead is the tentative beginnings of a friendship. I loved Brooke’s forwardness and the fact she wasn’t at all intimated by James’ wealth or success. The sexual chemistry kept me on edge and I rejoiced in the attraction they circled around. There are notable differences that should have made them an odd pairing, but the course of true love never did run as smooth as a Porsche.

From the cover to the banter, I loved it all! There were layers to this story that that added a great dynamic and made it all the more enjoyable. As well as the frivolity of the luxury, there was personal growth and enough emotion to pull at my heart strings. I was completely sold with its opulence. With The Fortunate Ones R.S. Grey sold the fantasy and I 100% bought into it.
