Perfect ass.

Perfect arms.

Perfect swagger.

They call Dash Wallace the Diamond King.

He’s the hottest commodity in baseball and in the bedroom.

When he runs the bases, every woman’s eyes are glued to his stunning body and a smile that puts the night lights to shame.

I’m no queen. I’m a regular girl with a regular job. I just watch him on TV and from the bleachers, season after season.

Girls like me grab a guy like that one in a million times.

My number just came up, and he is as spectacular in bed as he is on the field.

But there’s not a woman in the world who can distract Dash Wallace from the game. Not for a moment. Not even me.

Until the night I do. And everything changes.

About the Author

CD Reiss is a USA Today bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up she’s at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She’s frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn’t ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

Review

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just met me my favourite CD Reiss hero to date. Dash Wallace was everything I wanted, and nothing like I expected. He is a young, rich, sexy sports hero that much is true. He’s also a reluctant celebrity with a penchant for Shakespeare and a personality I found completely endearing. It didn’t hurt that his dirty talking game was on point too.

Vivian Foster is a public school librarian, she drives a beat up car and lives with her father. She’s a sweet, down to earth character and I immedialtely feel in like with her. It’s on a field trip to stadium with the school kids that she first meets Dash and as first impressions go, she’s not too impressed with him.

He however is rather taken with her, much to his annoyance it seems. He’s a consummate athelete and adheres to a strict regime which leaves little room for a personal life. Distractions are not in his vocabulary but so much is his want, he attempts to woo her without affecting his game.

Vivian isn’t intimidated by his celebrity but rather with how he makes her feel. She isn’t willing to explore her feelings for Dash with his allotted time frame in mind. He can’t deny the attraction or chemistry and so conceeds.

Their relationship was a dream and hella steamy. It was the perfect amount of angst and conflict with the emotional connection to the story and characters that always elevates my enjoyment of a novel. There was a moment with Dash that had me calling foul but I’m not ashamed to admit my bias and forgave easily.

I can’t help but think CD Reiss played us a little there in regards to the blurb. Whether it was intentional or no, Hardball was a triumph and hit all my expectations out of the park.
