SPACE by Penny Reid

Series: Laws of Physics #2

Genre: Contemporary Romance

One week.
Private cabin.
Famous physicist.
Still an unrepentant slacker.
What’s the worst that could happen?

Mona’s meticulously planned allotment of relaxation is thrown into chaos by the unscheduled appearance of her older brother’s band of friends, including the one person she’d hoped to never face again. Abram still makes her feel entirely too much, which is one of the reasons she disappeared after their one week together. But now, trapped on a mountain of snow and things unspoken, Mona will have to find a way to coexist with Abram, chaos and all.

Laws of Physics is the second trilogy in the Hypothesis series; Laws of Physics parts 1 (MOTION) & 2 (SPACE) end with a cliffhanger.

★3.5 – 4 STARS★

The anticipation of how things would unfold has kept me on the edge of my seat and embarrassingly desperate for the second instalment of the Physics series. To recap briefly, studious and career driven Mona Da Vinci, (who in a misplaced sense of guilt due to their estrangement) agrees to impersonate her twin sister Lisa in her hour of need. I say hour, but in actual fact it’s a week. A week of living with Abram, their brother’s best friend, who has been tasked to keep an eye on “Lisa”

Of all the disasters Mona envisaged, falling in love with Abram was not one of them. Yet in the here and now where the story picks up, the fallout of their week together is set to take place before our very eyes. Oddly I couldn’t help but feel it as satisfying as it is dissatisfying. It’s worth remembering that theirs is an intricate story due to its timeline and crossover of familiar characters, and in staying true to that, it’s understandable that things may not have moved at the pace I maybe expected.

That said, when the ill-fated couple come face to face once again I was happily sucked into the tsunami of hope and pain, as well as the bliss of a newfound dynamic they establish for themselves.

Lulled into a blissful false sense of security the story ends before I was ready for it too.  My appetite is whet, my interest is piqued, and April seems like an ungodly amount of time to have to wait for the final instalment.
